TWAIN App Sample 2.3

TWAIN App Sample is a reference application from the TWAIN Working Group that demonstrates how to acquire images from TWAIN-compliant scanners and cameras using the TWAIN 2.x specification. It helps developers and QA teams explore device capabilities, test driver behavior, and verify application–device interoperability. The app walks through the full TWAIN session workflow—from data source discovery and capability negotiation to image acquisition and transfer—while providing detailed logging for troubleshooting and education. It is intended as a learning and validation tool rather than a full-featured end-user scanning solution.

Key capabilities:

• Discover and select installed TWAIN data sources
• Inspect and negotiate device capabilities (for example, resolution, pixel type, duplex, and page size)
• Acquire images with or without the device’s native UI
• Use common TWAIN transfer modes (Native, Memory, and File)
• Preview, inspect, and export acquired images to common formats
• Log TWAIN states and messages to aid diagnosis and driver testing
• Demonstrate best practices for TWAIN 2.x compliance
